Over the last month, Rádio Campanário has told you about several places in the Alentejo that are ‘the delights’ of the Portuguese or tourists who visit our country and who are looking for a ‘corner’ where they can enjoy the tranquility that region offers.
There have also been many international publications that place the Alentejo on a must-visit route for tourists, but this time it is the Portuguese travel magazine, NiT Travel, which describes the river beach of Belver as “perfect” and “one of Portugal’s best hidden gems“.
As main advantages, the magazine highlights the tranquility of a space where there are no “kids running and no parents screaming“. To reach this paradise, the magazine indicates that the route is taken along Estrada Nacional 244 to Penela, and then motorists have to enter the IC8 until the exit of Belver.
Upon arrival, there is something that immediately strikes the eye according to Nit Travel and that is the Castle. “Situated in a privileged location, with magnificent views, both over the river and the surrounding landscape, it is ideal for taking spectacular photographs. Open from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 5:30 pm, closed on Mondays, Tuesday mornings, the last Sunday of each month and on some holidays.”can be read.
The hidden gem that the magazine reveals is the river beach of Alamal and its walkway. “The river beach of Quinta do Alamal is part of a stunning setting, between the Belver dam and the Fratel dam. This beach is part of a leisure complex that, in addition to supporting infrastructure for the bathing area, includes an Adventure Center that offers various activities such as abseiling, slide or boat and canoe trips.“
